Progress was made at last! Finally I got the sewing room cleaned out again so it didn't look like a junk room. It was a cold and rainy/drizzly Sunday, so I popped my "Fiddler On The Roof" DVD into the player and spent the next 3 hours sewing (and singing along with the movie).
Anyway, my UFO project for this month is almost complete. I have pinned the last two borders on and will sew them on tonight. Yea for me! This feels good.

2011 UFO Challenge List
Well so far this year is off to a slow start for me as far as quilting time goes. But, hunting season is over and I am looking forward to staying home this week end, getting the sewing room organized (again) and start on my UFO project.
#6 for me is titled Summertime. This is a quilt from Thimbleberries Club in 2002. This is what the finished quilt top should look like
Next step is to start working on it.

2011 UFO Challenge List
Here is my 2011 UFO challenge quilt list.
1. Harvest Sampler
2. Lakeside
3. House & Garden
4. Hometown Christmas
5. Seasons in a Row
6.Summertime - DONE!
7. Hot Flashes
8.Parade Day DONE!
9. Garden Village
10. Watermelon Slice
11. Sangria Sunset
12. Lazy Crazy
These are my UFO goals for 2011. For me it will be to get the tops completed and ready to quilt. Then maybe next year I will work on getting them quilted. I have done a little bit of machine quilting but I need more practice. Maybe as I get these quilt tops done I will begin to try some more machine quilting. The goal is to at least get the tops finished finished. I am tired of staring at them in the closet begging to be finished.
Okay, come on New Years Day. Ready to start. Good luck to all who are participating in this challenge.

Time
Where does the time go? Here it is almost Christmas eve. I have been off from work every Monday since Thanksgiving. Still have not found any time to spend in the sewing room (other than to iron clothes for work). Still working on my UFO list trying to narrow it down to 12 to complete for next year for a UFO challenge. Will have to finalize it and post it here on Monday. We are heading down to the deer lease to spend Christmas. Will return on Sunday for family Christmas at my house. Then one more Monday off for this year. Maybe I can get in the sewing room... just maybe...

My stash... of UFO's
Geez... I started listing my UFOs. Now I have done this before and the list has changed somewhat (actually I think it has grown and started having babies of its own). I was trying to list 12 that I want to work on for a 2011 UFO challenge where we are supposed to complete one UFO per month. After I listed my 12, I kept going. Maybe I shouldn't have. I was up to about 30 and decided to stop. This doesn't even count all the projects that haven't been started yet. I don't even want to think about how many are on that list. Ok, 2011 is going to be the year to knock out some UFOs and free up some space in the sewing room.

Why I did this...
I am starting this blog to try and motivate myself to end up with more finished projects than UFOs. My goal for the new year is to spend at least one hour a day sewing something. Whether it be handwork done on my lunch break, cutting out blocks or strips or just sewing some seams here and there as the day permits.
Not sure about how all of the blogging stuff works but going to give it a try and learn as I go.
